E-185 Today’s guest, Dr. Don Berwick, a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and a leading authority on the development of healthy communities, returns to discuss the mission of the IHI, an institute that he co-founded in 1991. The IHI, Berwick explains, is a global, not-for-profit organization, whose website motto is “Live well and learn how.” Berwick states that IHI’s mission is to promote sustainable and effective health care systems world-wide. Such a system, he emphasizes, will produce better care, better health, lower costs, and joy in the related work itself – which is a win/win outcome for everyone. Julie Taylorco-hosted.
